"When I think about my book's future, I think of the little girl I was, the young woman she became. I think of what it felt like to be swimming this vast ocean of life and never knowing if you were going to find a safe place to land.

 

Stories were my life raft at first, a piece of floatasm I could cling to for awhile. Eventually, I found enough of what I needed in those pages that I could make my own stability, my own boat, and eventually my own island in that tumultuous sea.

 

I just want one of my stories to help someone else not drown."
